NetMeter-OMNI-8C

8-channel monitor/logger for pulse, current loop, and voltage output meters/sensors

Overview

NetMeter-OMNI

Introduction

The Z3 controls NetMeter-OMNI is a sophisticated and yet simple to use module intended for monitoring and measuring sensors, pulse meters, and other devices that produce a voltage (from 0 up to 24V), a current (0-20mA, 4-20mA), or a pulse (such as KYZ contacts or a voltage or current pulse).

This includes sensors such as:

  • Temperature
  • Pressure
  • Flow, Flow rate (water, air, gas, etc)
  • Proximity
  • Light

The hardware provides 8 independently programmable channels that can be configured for either voltage or current mode. Furthermore, the function of each channel can be selected as analog, digital, or pulse:

NetMeter-OMNI Input Functional Diagram (1 of 8 Channels)
  • Programmable threshold/hysteresis voltage/current for digital and pulse mode
  • High resolution analog-to-digital conversion
    • 1mV resolution in voltage mode
    • 1uA resolution in current mode
    • 48 Bit pulse counter
  • Input over current protection
  • Can be field upgraded
  • DIN mounted module

Software

Since the NetMeter-OMNI is accessible using a standard web browser, it requires NO software to be installed on your computer!  Instead, the integrated Gateway has a built-in web server that utilizes Web 2.0 techniques enabling a highly interactive, real-time user experience. This eliminates the headaches of installing special software and drivers to be able to use the device.

The following capabilities are provided using the built-in web server:

  • Real-time sensor data updated every second
  • Flexible channel configuration:
    • Display name and units as desired
    • Convert voltage, current, or pulse count into engineering units
    • Display pulse accumulation as absolute or as a flow rate
  • Graphical display of historical data with dynamic pan/zoom control
  • Download data as text file for external processing
  • Ability to query data using a published API
  • Easy integration with BAS/SCADA via Modbus TCP or API
  • In-field firmware update
  • Contextual links to online help

NetMeter-OMNI ilog.html Widget

Open Platform

Z3 provides a documented Application Programming Interface (API) and HTML "widgets" based on a cost-free license. It allows users and 3rd party developers to easily integrate the Z3 data into their custom application:

  • Generate reports that consolidate enterprise-wide energy assets
  • Combine energy data into integrated displays of information important to business operations (dashboards)

With the Z3 API, real-time and historical energy data is available to almost any modern programming language and using standard Web 2.0 programming techniques such as HTML, Javascript, and AJAX.

Applications

NetMeter-OMNI applications include:

  • Monitor almost anything:
    • Can be used with most sensors that output a voltage, current, or pulse
  • Energy auditing
    • Quickly measure the effectiveness of energy reduction strategies
  • ISO 50001
    • Monitor and measure processes as required by ISO 50001
  • Air:
    • Monitor leakage
    • Spot opportunities for improvements: partial shutdown during low demand periods, rightsizing of compressors, etc.
    • Optimize maintenance cycles to prevent costly shutdowns, better predict machine failure
  • Water:
    • Detect leakage
    • Accurately determine water input costs
  • Steam: A Z3 Controls NetMeter-OMNI can simultaneously measure and log all the important parameters coming from the mechanical meter:
    • Pressure
    • Temperature
    • Cumulative Flow
    • Flow rate
